The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's newest cycle tunnel, is opened as part the 42-kilometer cycle route which circles the capital.

The tunnel links Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. It is located in southern Israel located in Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the nearest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.

The city's rich history was a reason for it to be the most visited tourist attraction in the past.  נווה פריצקי Elkin said that apart from its historical treasures, modern tourism is also incorporated into the Jerusalem city. נווה פריצקינווה פריצקי The project was funded by the Elkin's Ministry as well as the Tourism Ministry. It also included the budgets for the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The work was completed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

"The Kerem Tunnel project is a central tool for realizing the vision to change the concept of transportation throughout Jerusalem," Elkin emphasized. "The new tunnel, which connects to the long Jerusalem Ring Path, will join the existing bicycle paths in the city and the ones that will be laid throughout the city's neighborhoods to encourage cycling among the city's residents as well as its visitors, and also in promoting the green transportation revolution in the capital city."

The Kerem Tunnel was first excavated in the late 1990s to relocate the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation toward the purification plant in Sorek, which is located just west of the city. In order to make the tunnel accessible to the public all year round the work includes road construction and installing blowers.

The Kerem Tunnel gives you access to a variety of places to relax, including Ein Kerem Neighborhood, the Biblical Zoo and Aquarium as well as historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh or Ein Laban.
